Westfall Township, Matamoras, PA June 23, 2014

The Westfall Township Board of Supervisors held a Special Meeting on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 3:00 pm (according to meeting room clock). The meeting was held at the Westfall Township Municipal Building on Delaware Drive and LaBarr Lane.

Those present were Supervisors, Lester J. Buchanan, Jerry Dotey and Raymond Banach (attended meeting by speaker phone); Solicitor Robert Bernathy; Secretary, Jodi Hulse; Bill Koferl, Beth Brelje, and a few members of the general public.

Chairman Larry Flansburg and Vice Chairman Robert Melvin were not present.

Supervisor Dotey called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm.

The Pledge of Allegiance took place.  Supervisor Dotey turned the meeting over to Solicitor Bernathy.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:  A motion was made by Supervisor Buchanan to approve the agenda.  The motion was seconded by Supervisor Banach and carries with all in favor.

PUBLIC COMMENT:   Bill Koferl questioned the meetings being scheduled during the day.  Solicitor Bernathy stated the law provides that the Board can have meetings on times that are not regularly advertised at the beginning of the year.  The Board can have Special Meetings and this is such a meeting.  Mr. Koferl questioned the last workshop meeting taking place at 6:00 pm.  Solicitor Bernathy said it can be done by law.  Supervisor Buchanan said we stopped having the workshop some years back.  They were mainly to approve subdivisions and since we have not had many we cancelled the regularly scheduled workshop meetings.  If something comes up we schedule one.  Beth Brelje asked if there was a workshop that night.  Supervisor Dotey said there is no workshop scheduled.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Eastern Pike Regional Police Department: A motion was made by Supervisor Buchanan to approve Solicitor Bernathy conducting legal research for the possibility of a violation of the Court’s Order dated May 2, 2014 in the matter of Eastern Pike Regional Police Department Commission v. Larry Flansburg and to take necessary action for contempt if warranted. The motion was seconded by Supervisor Banach and carries with all in favor.

NEW BUSINESS:  NONE

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by Supervisor Buchanan to adjourn the meeting at 3:04.  The motion was seconded by Supervisor Banach and carried with all in favor.

Respectfully submitted,

Jodi Hulse
